I first saw this questionnaire on Ambiei’s (LittlePlasticFriends) YouTube channel. She and Kim (The Dolls, The Witch & The Wardrobe) made this Blythe Q&A and thought it would be fun to participate. I currently only have 3 dolls (2 official Blythe dolls) but I feel like this Q&A would probably be better if you had a lot of dolls or have been collecting Blythe for a lot longer but it is what it is.
Feel free to join in as well and answer these ten questions in the comment section!
How did you discover Blythe?
My older sister had an Enchanted Petal Blythe doll and seeing as I was her younger sister I was easily influenced by her interests and wanted everything that my older sister had. hahaHow many Blythe dolls do you have?
I have two official Blythe dolls and an ADG “Blythe” dollFirst Blythe?
My Save the Animals Blythe doll. She was a birthday gift from my older sister.Do you have a grail Blythe?
I have so many dolls and most of them are from the past 2-3 years but I decided to only share the ones and maybe make a wishlist post for the more recent dolls that I want. Rainy Day Parade, Lavender Hug, Simply Lilac, Jane Lefroy, and Leading Lady Lucy are some of the dolls from previous years that I love to own one day because I love their hair, makeup, and stock. Hopefully, one day I’ll have a few of these girls in my collection. Do you have any of these dolls?Who is your favorite Blythe in your collection?
I love all my dolls because each of them has a different story and style. However, because Lavendula Babe is my latest doll I have to say that she’s my favorite at the moment but I love all my dolls!Stock, custom, or both?
I love both! It’s funny because when I first got back into Blythe dolls I was mainly seeing custom dolls and how fun customizing your doll can be. However, then I discovered the LaDollyDispatch podcast and after binge-listening to a lot of their episodes, it made me appreciate stock dolls for what they are. I now love stock Blythes and die a little inside when people customize them. However, I love seeing custom factory Blythes and would love to have a custom one day.Favorite part of collecting?
The community for one. Everyone I’ve met through Blythe is so sweet, generous, insanely creative, and kindest of people. I’ve had many conversions with other doll collectors where we discuss dolls for hours! I also love how diverse the community is. There are people of all ages, and genders, from all over the world and with different cultures and I love it!
I also love how creative playing with dolls makes me. Whenever I made things of my dolls or dress them up or whatever I feel like a preteen playing with my Bratz and Barbies again. I never thought years later I would be doing it again but Blythe dolls bring me so much joy and I know I’m not alone in feeling this way I’ve watched a bunch of other Blythe doll collectors via YouTube who get so giddy about dressing up their dolls and setting little photoshoots with them. It’s such a fun and wholesome hobby to have.Where do you prefer to buy Blythe dolls?
Junie Moon is the only place I’ve ordered. They’re one of the official Blythe retailers and I haven’t placed an order anywhere else. hahaWho is the oldest doll in your collection by release date?
May is a Save the Animals doll and she was released in July 2007 so she’s my oldest Blythe doll as of right now.
Do you have a Kenner?
No.
