Back in late August, we went on a week trip to Colorado. We stayed in the Colorado Springs area for the first few days, then had planned to stay in Denver for the last two days but one of my dad’s friend invited us to Vail, Colorado, which we ended up staying at for a day. This was my first time visiting Colorado, so I decided to bring a travel companion. A Blythe doll! Specifically, my Lavendula Babe, Lavender! I was so extra and even packed her an outfit for each day! I remember thinking I was going too far but I did ended up dressing her each day and took more pictures than I thought I would. I wanted to recap my adventures and share my experience of traveling with a Blythe1 for the first time.
I plan on posting a separate post on my traveling doll bag along with tips and everything I packed for Lavender. Stay tuned!
Red Rock Canyon
On our first full day, we took an impromptu trip to Red Rock on the first day. I forgot Lavender’s comb so she looked a bit rough in some of these photos. Later, my younger sister gave me one of her disposable eyelash brushes, which helped managed Lavender’s hair a little bit!
Speaking of, my younger sister, she had visited Colorado before and recommended a Pupuseria called Monse’s. Sadly it was closed on Monday. However, they had the most beautiful art wall, so I had to take some pictures of Lavender!
Garden of the Gods
The next day, we went to the Garden of the Gods. On this day, the cloudy sky kept playing possum with us. Every time I wanted to take Lavender out to take some pictures it would begin to sprinkle or rain. Thankfully, I took a few cute photos of her! I love the pop of color on Lavender in these landscapes.
In some of the photos, you may notice that Lavender doesn’t have any shoes on. I only brought one pair of shoes and I chose ones that I thought wouldn’t fall off her feet. However, these obviously kept falling off of her in my bag! Thankfully, I didn’t lose them!
After walking the Garden of the God’s we tried going back to Monse’s Taste of El Salvador (the full name) to see if they were open, and they were! The Pupusas were so-so. They were huge but didn’t have enough filling for my liking. They did have a lot of vegan and vegetarian options2! I got the Vegan horchata (btw traditional horchata is vegan as it’s made from water and contains no dairy) but I wanted to try it. It tasted like Abuelita hot chocolate and nothing like horchata!
After two days of walking in the mountains and trying to avoid getting caught in the rain. Lavender deserved some rest and relaxation! Especially, because the next day was going to be extra special!
Downtown Colorado Springs
On Wednesday, we explored a bit more of downtown Colorado Springs. We found this stunning art wall and Lavender needed to snap some pictures! She matched the gorgeous wall perfectly!
Super Junk Vintage
The reason this day was so special was because it was the day we went to Super Junk! Because this place was so special, I plan on writing a separate post on this magical whimsical shop where I share more of the images. I took a LOT of photos of this place! I also bought a new Blythe doll! Suri Sustainable! Which I also need to write a separate post about. I’m soooo backed up with posts ideas at the moment and my laptop isn’t cooperating with me.
Super Junk Vintage sells a lot of retro, spooky, and cute stuff. Including Blythe dolls! Both non authentic and authentic. They had more factory Blythes and even offered services like changing the eyes and body parts. I knew that they also sold real Blythe dolls because I follow them on Instagram!
When I visited Super Junk, they had 2 Takara and 2 CWC dolls available. I had a difficult time deciding which one I wanted but ultimately, I went with Suri Sustainable. She’s just so stunning! That latte skin tone is so beautiful too! Plus, I felt like she was stalking me the past few weeks because I kept seeing her everywhere! And I don’t think Suri is a popular doll either so, I took it as a sigh that she needed to be apart of my dolly collection!
I also bought a couple of other things such as a factory faceplate for an unauthentic doll I’m trying to save, some postcards (for my mood board), some gifts, and stickers, which they gave me for free! The staff were so sweet and also provided us with some freebies!
Super Junk Vintage was soooo fun and if you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend you pay them a visit! They have a shop dog!
Make sure you follow Super Junk Vintage on Instagram.
Because we were traveling and I didn’t have enough space for Suri and her box. I unboxed her and filmed it on the floor of our Airbnb3!
Vail, Colorado
The following day we drove 1-2 hours to Vail, Colorado. We stayed in this cute loft that my dad’s friend provided for us, for free! It was cow themed! Very on-brand for me! haha
We only stayed here for a few hours and we didn’t do much besides go out to eat. Vail was so beautiful though! It’s one of those places where people visit to ski the slopes during winter. I would love to comeback here to see what it looks like in peak winter. I’m a winter and snow lover!
I took this opportunity to take some pictures of Suri Sustainable, who I named Nessa (after my younger sister4). She’s definitely a mountain girlie and her outfit perfectly matched the loft!
Denver, Colorado
On our last day in Colorado, we spent the morning driving to Denver. When we arrived we had a few hours to kill before our hotel room became available so we went to In-N-Out5.
Later that day, my younger sister and I drove to the nearest Voodoo Doughnut. I had tried Voodoo Doughnut once in Orlando at Universal Citywalk. My favorite doughnut is the voodoo doll! Though, mine looked like a cyclops! 😆
Nessa took this day off. I fully support my doll models resting after a day of shooting!
Flying Back Home
When I flew to Colorado, I only had one Blythe doll. But flying back home, I had two! Thankfully, I bought this cute case from the Target school supplies section for $5. It perfectly fits two Blythe dolls, plus a lot of extra items. Like I mentioned, I’m going to write a separate post about traveling with a Blythe. Make sure you subscribe to get notified on my new Substack posts!
Overall, I had a fun time traveling with my Blythe dolls to Colorado! This trip definitely inspired me to travel with my dolls more!
Even though I felt embarrassed taking pictures of my doll, I was with family and they’re used to my crazy doll hobby! Honestly, I don’t think anybody else noticed me as I tried to find discrete areas to take pictures of them. Plus, it was worth looking strange for a few moments. Seeing the photos I took of my Blythe dolls in public areas was sooooo cute! Now, I know why people do it! Doll photography is a beast in itself and I’m still new to it and something I want to improve on. I even took out my old point-and- shoot camera! Hopefully, I can (re)learn how to use it so that I can take better pictures of my dolls. Another new hobby my Blythes inspired me to take up! It never ends with these girls!
Have you traveled with your Blythe dolls before?
Technically this is my second time traveling with a Blythe! I traveled with May when I was 14-15 years old when I had a Quinceanera in Mexico! However, that was via road trip and not air travel.
Which is great because I’m vegetarian!!
The things I do for these dolls! 😆
Who accompanied me to Super Junk Vintage the day before. If you go on their Instagram, you can see her in the picture holding up Suri! I don’t like taking pictures and I wasn’t feeling cute that day either, so I’m glad she took the picture instead of me! 😂
We don’t have an In-N-Out where I live! 😭

I’m so glad to see you went to Super Junk! I actually sell my Blythe doll dresses and kits there! I am going to be teaching sewing lessons soon in the Blythe room 🥰🥰🥰
Oh my goodness!! I am in Colorado. Beautiful state to take photos in!
