A few weeks ago, KiiiKiii (a Korean girl group) released a short video ‘Candy Pink Magic Hole Flip Phone’ featuring Blythe dolls! It was a cute 2-minute stop motion video showing the girl group members magically transforming into Blythe dolls. Whilst, I found this concept adorable! I was disappointed when I saw that the girl group members wearing unlicensed Blythe clothing from a random shop that just screen printed images of Blythe dolls they found online, probably without the photographers consent.
I love when Blythe dolls make a sudden unexpected appearances. However, I also want to make sure that the original Blythe dolls and their artists are being represented fairly. Anybody can use a sublimation printer and stolen Blythe images online to create and sell items. I often buy my clothes on secondhand apps/websites and often see sellers do this all the time! I try my best to report these sellers but very rarely do I ever see them get taken down and by then another handful of fake items have popped up! Hence why I only report about official licensed Blythe collaborations.
If you want genuine Blythe merchandise, support the officially licensed products! Junie Moon sells many Blythe clothing and accessories and more brands have partnered up with Hasbro for special collections like this one with Unblend.
For Neo Blythe’s 25th anniversary, Blythe x Unblend are releasing a special collection features clothing and accessories officially licensed by Hasbro that will be dropping really soon! Let’s get into the details!
Unblend is a Japanese contemporary apparel and lifestyle brand that focuses on minimalist casual streetwear. They most recently collaborated with Sanrio. You can find their products exclusively on Zozotown.
The Blythe x Unblend features 8 items with design variations for most of the items. The collection includes raglan-style tops, mesh patterned long sleeve shirts, printed sweatpants, reversible shoulder bags, knitted beanies with badges, cozy cardigans, face printed round zipper pouches, and small patterned zip-up pouches. Prices range from ¥3,960-6,600 ($24-42).
The Blythe x Unblend collaboration features the faces of three slightly customized Blythe. While I don’t think they’re heavily customized. Their scalps and faces probably have been switched on some of the dolls. At least one of the dolls has customized eyelids! However, this could’ve been done with photoshop.
I tried to do some research on this collection but sadly most of it was in Japanese which I’m not fluent in. The only other info I can find came with people promoting the products via PR1 which didn’t lead me anywhere.
If anybody knows who worked on the Blythe portion of this collaboration, please let me know so that I can credit them! Usually with these types of collabs I don’t find out who worked on the dolls until after the collection has been released2.
The raglan shirts reminded me of the tops from the COYSEIO X BLYTHE collaboration. However, Unblend used authentic Blythe dolls on their items rather than a heavily customized doll like COYSEIO did. I don’t mind a customized Blythe, but I do love it when Blythe’s unique features are highlighted, like in Unblend’s collection.
If you’re a Blythe fan with a more practical minimalist style, this collection is for you! The subdued colors and simple design Blythe print pattern would work for you. The long-sleeve tops, cardigan, and sweatpants all feature a basic design.
As for my thoughts on the Blythe X Unblend collection, I really love the neutral with subtle pastel pop of color palette. The Blythe print pattern is quite cute. My favorite items are the raglan shirts, shoulder bags, and round face pouches! I’m going to try to see if I can purchase some of these items, wish me luck!
As for dolls featured in the photoshoot, I spotted “Zoe and Her Pet Fish”, “Aurelia Amphitrite”, and “Pleasant Surprise”. Like I mentioned, I tried my best to see what dolls were featured on the items. I immediately recognized 21st Anniversary doll, Juno Estella because of her makeup. However, her hair color looks off, it looks like she’s wearing “Lady Panacea’s” olive green hair. Again, I’m not sure if the switched out her scalp or they played around with some designs in post.
Speaking of blue hair, I had a difficult time distinguishing who that Blythe could be. It could be “Flowergirl of Happiness” but part of me doesn’t think it is. Her makeup doesn’t line up. Maybe they adjusted the lighting? Or they could’ve just used her scalp. They could’ve also used “Wishful Blythe & Stardust Cinnamonroll”, “Mandy Cotton Candy”, or maybe even “Hatsune Miku”. I can’t really tell which doll it is based on the makeup or eye color. If anyone has a guess, let me know!
As for the brown haired girl, based on her makeup and photo, I can’t really tell either! There are so many brown haired Blythe dolls with blue eyes that it can be any one of them! Lol

Where’s my Blythe pr merch? 😭
If I find out I’ll post it on my notes section and update this post with the details!

Blythe are climbing up to be more loved and collected. I feel we will keep coming into the issues of printed images of dolls and not asking the artist/photographer. Its unfortunate.
