My Doll Resolutions & Changes
Happy 2026! Let's make this the year of the doll! 🎉
Happy New Year! Wishing you all a lovely 2026! I hope that you get all the dolls you want this year! To kick off 2026, I thought it would be fun to share a post about some of the dolly goals that I want to accomplish this year. Plus, I have some Substack changes that will go along with some of these goals that I wanted to touch on.
Start posting more doll content
My main doll goal and what inspired me to write this post in the first place is to start incorporating other dolls into my Substack. Don’t freak out! Blythe dolls will still be my main focus, and I’ll still be discussing the new releases and making informative posts like I’ve been doing. Blythe dolls will always be my muse! However, I’ll be including more non-Blythe dolls going forward.
Thanks to the interest of people in collecting trinkets and other childhood toys, dolls have become more popular! I believe this trend will continue to grow in 2026! Last year, a lot of cool doll collaborations were released in the doll space. Some of my favorite collections came from the doll brands Bratz X Hello Kitty, Little Mimi X ILLIT, and American Girl X WICKED. In 2026, I’m going to report on some of the new doll collabs that I find interesting and think you’ll all enjoy hearing about.
I also plan to write more posts involving doll culture in general. Essays about being an adult who loves dolls, reviews on doll-specific content like book reviews, and more! I already have a list of topics I can’t wait to share. This also means more Substack posts for you all!
Seasonal crochet patterns drops
Another Substack change will be regarding my crochet patterns. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been falling behind on crochet pattern releases. This is due to two issues, one of them being time, and the second is my carpal tunnel. Last year, I started struggling with hand, wrist, and shoulder pain involving my right arm. I broke my right arm as a child, which I’m not sure is related to my arm problems, or if it’s due to using my arm repeatedly for work. Either way, last year was the first time I had to pause from my hobbies due to the frequent discomfort of CTS.
As a result of this, I will only be posting 2 crochet patterns a season (every 3 months) going forward. All patterns will still be under a paywall, and the price won’t be changing either.
Start selling my crochet patterns
If you’re not a fan of the monthly subscription through Substack, don’t worry! I’m working on making my Blythe crochet pattern available via PDF soon! I plan on distributing them through my Kofi shop just for convenience's sake. I haven’t decided how much I’ll be selling each pattern for, but I’m thinking under $10 for accessories and single clothing items. Crochet patterns that involve more (like the Y2K outfit pattern), I’m thinking $10-15 because it’s an entire outfit and comes with two patterns. If you have any intake, feel free to let me know.
Get a custom Blythe Doll
So, I’m technically in the process of this right now! The communication between the artist and me has been a long back-and-forth for a couple of months, and it’s been a longer process than I first imagined. Hopefully, if all goes well, I should be getting my first custom Blythe this year! I’m so excited!
Repair my American Girl Doll
In December, I found my first (and only) American Girl! I got this girl back when I was a kid and lived back in Chicago. I get her at THE AMERICAN GIRL STORE in Chicago! I thought my parents had gotten rid of her a few years ago because one of my younger sisters’ friends accidentally broke her leg. However, when I was searching for gift supplies over the holidays, I found an American Girl coffin box, and she was safely nestled inside with some extra AG clothing. She needs a bit of TLC, but since I fixed May, I feel like I can fix this doll, too! She’s a JLY #14, which happens to be my birthday! lol
Find a cute way to display my dolls
Last but not least, I want to find a new way to display my Blythe dolls. I currently have my Blythe dolls displayed on top of my bookshelf, but I’m not happy with this setup as it requires one of them to play the role of Beyonce in Destiny’s Child, which we all know is May!
I want to evenly display my girls in a way that gives them an equal spotlight time in my bedroom. I’m thinking about getting some wall shelves installed and having them displayed on them, but I haven’t made up my mind yet. If anybody has any suggestions, let me know.
