If you follow me on Blythestagram or YouTube, you know I recently acquired two new Blythe dolls! In Lavenderโs travel diary post, I mentioned that I bought Nessa (aka Suri Sustainable) at Super Junk Vintage. But, I also scored an incredible deal on a secondhand anniversary doll, Aurella Amphitrite! As much as I wouldโve loved to dedicate a separate post to each doll, Iโm a bit behind on Substack posts, so I decided to group their introduction posts into one to save time but still give them enough space to share their journey of how they made their way into my doll collection. Say hello to my two new CWC Blythe dolls, Nessa and Pearl!
I bought my Suri Sustainable at Super Junk Vintage. Iโve had my eyes on Suri since I saw her on the cover of the Iโm Sorry by Petra Collins zine. She just had this aura about her that drew me to her! Her brownish red hair, tan latte skin, and stunning eye colors! I knew I needed her in my collection! Angelica Eve is also on my Blythe doll wishlist!
Because I follow Super Junk Vintage on Instagram, I knew they had Suri Sustainable in their shop, so I told myself that if she was still available when I visited the shop in person that I would consider buying her. Thankfully, SHE WAS still for sale at Super Junk, so I ended up getting her!
I choose the name โNessaโ for my Suri Sustainable because my younger sister, Vanessa, accompanied me to Super Junk. If you follow Super Junk on Instagram, they post pictures of their doll adoptions with the customers who purchased them. Because I donโt like taking pictures, my sister volunteered to take a picture holding Suri. So, you can see my cute lil sister proudly holding Suri! After we left Super Junk, I joked that I would name my new Blythe after her as a thank you for taking a picture. She said that I should!! And since she does kind of look like a Vanessa. I decided that her full name would be Vanessa with her nickname being Nessa.

For every new Blythe doll that I get, I always make them a handmade welcome home gift, usually an outfit. I got this idea from Claire Who Makes Things, as she does the same for her new dolls. Itโs such a cute way to warmly welcome a new doll into your collection.
With it being close to autumn, I thought I would crochet Nessa a fall-themed dress. I used colors that I thought would look lovely on her latte skin. I also played around with the Fair Isle technique to create mushrooms. I rarely ever incorporate Fair Isle into my crochet work because it can be a bit complicated if you use too many colors but I wanted to make something special, so I put some extra effort and crocheted little mushrooms on the dress. I ended loving how they looked! This technique inspired me to create the new dresses for my autumn and Halloween collection that Iโll be posting in my Kofi shop later this week!
The other Blythe doll I got was Aurella Amphitrite! I got her for a very good price on a secondhand clothing app. Because the selling listing didnโt have her in her stock outfit, I messaged the seller to find out more about this doll. The seller replied saying that they had bought her in Japan (not new in box or at Junie Moon) and she came with a different outfit on (the one in the unboxing video). The original price that the seller gave her was a bit out of my price range so I said thanked them for their response and left it at that. However, the next day, the seller gave me a discount on the doll after I expressed interest. I thought the price was reasonable, especially given that Aurella Amphitrite is an anniversary doll! So, I snatched her up!
Aurella Amphitrite was originally released back in July 2023 as the 22nd Neo Blythe Anniversary doll. She comes with an incredible gown and stock! Hopefully, one day I will find her stock!
Not only is she my first annn doll but sheโs also my first doll with a translucent cream skin tone! Iโve always been curious about the translucent skin type as I wondered if it was really translucent, and it is! In my unboxing video, I demonstrate how light shines through her body when I held her to the window light. However, one thing that I didnโt expect was for her body to feel translucent! When I held Aurella Amphitrite, her body felt like a fake body. The bodies of the two CWC Blythe dolls that I have both feel very durable. But, when I held this doll, I thought that I may have been swindled! Even though Aurella Amphitrite looked liked the genuine doll I saw online.
I mentioned this on my Instagram, and many people reported back to me that this was apparently a common occurrence with translucent cream dolls! Katie, mentioned this in her Juno Estella Blythe doll review. There was another doll collector, whose June Estella doll also had the same issue. After many Blythe doll collectors, reached out and told me about their similar translucent cream body issue, I felt reassured and that I did indeed have a legit Aurella Amphitrite doll. Even though, it sucks to have this issue with an expensive doll, that just means I have to pay extra attention to her. I mean, sheโs gorgeous so that wonโt be difficult! lol
I didnโt know what to name my Aurella Amphitrite. I was torn between three names, Bubbles, Pearl, and Aurora. All were inspired by her sea princess theme! I ran a poll on my Blythestagram and Pearl won! Welcome home, Pearl!
For Pearlโs welcome home gift, I crocheted her an off-the-shoulder floral midi dress. I played around with ruffles to create a more feminine silhouette and tried to give her a corset-style bodice with floral details. I ended up making the top part a bit too loose but Iโm pretty sure I can go back and adjust it with a sew stitches. I loved how it turned out and hope to make a few alterations to the pattern so that I can make some more dresses like this but in different styles.
Both the dresses that I crocheted for my new Blythes, feature a new dress design. They also include a clasp at the back. I donโt like making doll clothing thatโs too fussy to apply. Plus, it just feels like an extra step. However, Iโve been trying to improve my doll clothing skills and I feel like most doll collectors like for their doll clothes to fit secure on their dolls. Iโm always learning on my doll design and clothing adventures!
Iโm really happy with the two additions to my Blythe doll collection and have been looking for a new way to display my dolls as I now have 5 Blythe! Buying two new Blythe dolls in the spam of a month is a big deal for me as Iโm not someone who can afford to drop money on a new Blythe every month. However, this makes doll collecting extra special for me. Itโs even more fun when I can score a good deal on a Blythe like I did with Pearl! Iโm someone who enjoys buy secondhand because it feels like treasure hunting! So, when I found an anniversary Blythe doll, I felt like I found the ultimate treasure! Haha

Pearl is the perfect name for her! It goes with her iridescent lilac hair! And Suri is so adorable! ๐ฅฐ
