The first photos of Neo Blythe “mimi LALA nyan” have landed! After they released the top 50 semi-finalists for the Neo Blythe Beauty Contest, I didn’t think we would get any new Blythe news until next week, but I was pleasantly surprised! The more Blythe news, the better, right? haha
Her story that they wrote for “mimi LALA nyan” is so stickin’ cute! I love that mimi/LALA (what would you call her?) is a fan of Blythe and even wears a t-shirt of theirs on stage! How meta! Do you think her band’s name is Sweet Misfit Dreamy Kitten? I tried to zoom in to see what her white t-shirt says, and all I could make out was a bunch of gibberish, “Lovely Shadows, Soft Trouble, Fragile Heart, Whimsy, Starlit Tears, Pretty Little” maybe their song titles or lyrics? lol

My thoughts
I’m not sure if it’s just these photographs of her, but something about “mimi LALA nyan” didn’t instantly make me love her. If you read my post about her when the illustration dropped, you know that I was obsessed with the idea of mimi/LALA (what would you call her?). However, when I first saw these pictures of her, I wasn’t crazy about her right away.
My main issue is her hair color. I know they described her hair as Honey Blonde x Pale Purple, but I guess that flew over my head because I assumed her hair would be a cool-toned beige shade because of how it appeared in the illustration. I feel like that color would complement the pale purple streaks in her hair a lot better. Also, the eye chips! I personally believe that only the special lilac eyes suit “mimi LALA nyan” well with her style of makeup. The rest of the eye chips just appear strange on her? Even the blue and green chips, which I normally love on all the dolls, clash with her style. I know eye chips can be changed, but to alter all three eye colors would be a bit excessive.
Now for what I did love about “mimi LALA nyan”, her outfits! While they do look a bit oversized, I love the fact that she comes with two tops and two bottoms. I’ve mentioned before that I love it when Blythe dolls come with a lot of clothing because I feel like you really get a bang for your buck with multiple clothing pieces. Plus, I’m a fashion girlie and love to mix-and-match clothes on my dolls to create different outfits. They’re called fashion dolls for a reason! haha
Plus, she comes with a lot of extra details like pieced ears and a pink manicure. I personally believe all Blythe dolls should come with these details based on their high price, but for whatever reason they don’t do this. Her pink and purplish makeup is also pretty adorable. I love the amount of blush they gave her. It’s giving “Silent Lucretia” blush, which I adored!
So, yeah… I’m not sure if I love her or not. I’m definitely not crazy about her like I thought I would be. Maybe this is one of those situations where I’m going to have to view more photos of her or see her styled differently or until she is officially released. I’m not quite sold on “mimi LALA nyan” just yet. I would love to hear your thoughts!
