I know I’m a bit late with this post, but I wanted to make sure that yesterday’s interview post got its chance to shine for at least a day before I published a new post. With that said, let’s discuss Gwengelica!
From what I’ve seen on dollstagram, “Gwengelica’s Miracle” final reveal is receiving some mixed reviews. Some Blythe collectors are obsessed with her look, whilst others are disappointed with her final presentation. After watching the official unboxing video released by Junie Moon, I was very fascinated with Gwengelica. Her hair, for one! I joked that it would be funny to wake up in the middle of the night to find a tiny glowing wig just floating! She is supposed to be an angel though, so it kind of works! haha
“Gwengelica’s Miracle” has a subtle haunting look to her, which, as a spooky girl, I love! Her all-white clothing and accessories give a ghostly appearance that any horror-lover would swoon over. I thought maybe if they had given her some pale ghostly makeup, she would’ve been the perfect Blythe for the spooky season! If you read the illustration post, you know I wasn’t a fan of Gwengelica’s design. Did the final specifications change my opinion on her? Keep reading to find out!

“Gwengelica’s Miracle” comes with a puffy off-the-shoulder lacy top, a soft lace skirt, a chiffon and lace overskirt, a separate double-layered pettiskirt, ruffle shorts, knee-high garter socks, white pearl boots, an angel wing hair accessory with layered feathers and pearl accents, a lace choker with a rose motif, white lace underwear, and a white pearl colored waist stand. She is packaged in a silver foil and embossed textured box.
MY THOUGHTS
I mentioned in the illustration post that I wasn’t a big fan of “Gwengelica’s Miracle” all-white design, and after the photos and video were released, my thoughts about her remained the same. I’m still not a fan of her theme. But I do have some positive things to say about her, so this won’t just be a rant post.
From watching the unboxing video, I was surprised to see in the video that they demonstrated how to style the hair. I feel like this is long overdue. Using just water and a comb to brush out the tangles is all you need. I’m glad that they showed this in the video.
Let’s start with the positive. I’m obsessed with her hair! I love a white-haired doll, and the added night feature of glow-in-the-dark hair is both hilarious and alluring. It gives her this haunting charm. If you thought your friends and family were scared of your doll collection before, I bet they’ll be terrified of this girl! haha
Her outfit is pretty adorable. Her off-the-shoulder top is especially cute! Her outfit consists of layers and is very voluminous! The garters and lace-up boots are so cute! I like that the boots have a pearlescent finish and silver details to make them stand out. The angel wing hair clips are probably my favorite piece on her! This look might be something that I try to replicate with crochet.
Now, for what I didn’t like. Her makeup looks a bit off. The photographs that Junie Moon released show her face appearing too bright, and it doesn’t suit her majestic fashion. Her eyeshadow is pretty, but the rest of the makeup isn’t for me. The special eye chips they chose for “Gwengelica’s Miracle” also don’t complement her, or maybe it’s the white eyelashes, which I also don’t like. I wonder how different she would’ve looked if she came with black or brown lashes instead. I’m also surprised that she doesn’t come with pierced ears. You’d imagine for that steep price you’d at least get a doll with earrings, but I guess not.
I understand the style that CWC and Junie Moon were going for, and I appreciated that they decided to try some new features. However, I don’t think the excision was there. In my opinion, her whole face should’ve been reworked.
