In this Blythe Bites, I wanted to share some of the Blythe doll stock items that I recently crocheted and my experience after attending my first Blythe Zoom chat and the loving Blythe doll community!
When I first saw images of the Blythe doll, Jade Garden I was immediately in awe of her panda handbag! The stock panda bag was so cute that I decided to make one for my dolls using a scrap ball of white fluffy yarn that I had in my yarn stash. That amount was enough for me to crochet the panda bag! I used black yarn to create the panda’s ears and handbag handle. I used black felt for the eyes and nose. I used a slick dog brush and brushed out the ears. It came out perfect and I’m obsessed with it! I have May display the bag at all times! haha
Heavenly Strawberry is a Blythe doll that is on my wishlist for a lot of reasons but one of the reasons is because of her strawberry-themed stock outfit! I had a blue yarn that (at the time) reminded me of the color of Heavenly Strawberry’s coat so I crocheted the coat, I even ordered strawberry buttons, especially for this coat!
As I was waiting for the strawberry buttons to arrive I decided to attempt to make the rest of Heavenly Strawberry’s outfit. If you follow me on my Blythestagram, you may have remembered that I asked for opinions on the color of the dress, I eventually ended up going with the salmon pink colored dress. The most difficult part of making this dress was having to embroider all those tiny strawberries! It took me a week just to make a front! To this day, I have only embroidered the front side of the dress. haha
Overall, I love how Heavenly Strawberry’s outfit came out! Maybe one day I’ll be able to add Heavenly Strawberry to my Blythe doll collection but until then I’m happy and super proud of myself for crocheting her outfit!
In early December, I joined in on a Blythe Zoom chat hosted by La Dolly Dispatch (a podcast about Blythe dolls). They mentioned on their Instagram if anybody would be interested in joining their Zoom chat to discuss all things Blythe and I didn’t hesitate to join! Now if you know me, I’m not a social person (lol) so for me to participate in a virtual Zoom chat was very bold of me. However, I’m very happy that I did reach out and joined in on La Dolly Dispatch Zoom chat! There were 10+ people from all over the world in chat and we chatted for about an hour. I was very nervous and didn’t say much because I was so nervous but it was so nice to hear other people talk about their love for Blythe dolls, it’s nice to know I’m not the only one obsessed with these dolls. It was such a lovely time and I hope to join in on another Zoom chat with this group of ladies soon!
Since then, I have had the opportunity to discuss Blythe dolls via DM on my Blythestagram with many other Blythe lovers. Feel free to DM me if you ever want to talk about Blythe dolls!
