Meet Lavender! Lavender Babe Unboxing!
Introducing Lavendula Babe! My first Neo Blythe Doll in 18 years!
Earlier this week, I introduced you all to a Blythe doll I got late last year but now I have another Blythe doll to share! May was my first Blythe doll (she’s a Save the Animals who wears a wig) and I got her back in 2007 but now my second Blythe doll is Lavendula Babe1 and she is my first official Blythe Doll in 18 years!
There have been so many changes in the world of Blythe dolls in those 18 years like changes with the manufacturer, box changes, face modes, and so much more. I’ll be discussing some of those changes in this post and my experience with getting my Lavendula Babe!
Lavendula Babe holds such a special place in my heart because she was the first new Blythe release that I noticed as I started my Blythestagram around late October and that’s when Lavendula Babe was announced. I fell in love with her bright purple hair and winter-style theme. I’m obsessed with lavender, both the color and the scent, and even named my Animal Crossing New Horizons island, Lavendula. She’s a city girl and I was born and raised in Chicago so she’s the perfect doll for me! I’m so glad to have her in my collection.
I like sipping on frozen ice cream shakes even in the winter time.
As I walk by a shop , I see my reflection in the window and think to myself, "hey, I'm really pretty, Lavender girl!"
And continue my day, sipping on my frozen drink, happy as usual.
Check out my unboxing Lavender on the YouTube above. I filmed it in an ASMR style so it’s extra relaxing!
Ordering & shipping ~ Junie Moon
I ordered Lavendula Babe through the Junie Moon website. This was also my first time ordering from Junie Moon! I placed my order on December 26th but the day after I received an email from Junie Moon saying that they were taking the last week of December and the first week of January off for a holiday break. This meant that I had to wait longer than usual for my order to be processed…3 weeks later! It felt so long like a month but I’m so happy that she arrived to her forever home safely!
Packaging
Lavendula Babe’s box was so beautiful! The colors and city background are so fun! I love the burger and milkshake shops in neon signs, it adds personality to the box and the doll. I did my best not to tear the box as I wanted to save it to use as a way to store my crochet pieces. I still have my Save the Animals Blythe box which stores scrap pieces of fabric, we all have one of those, don’t we? My STA doll is slightly smaller in size compared to Lavender’s box. This was my first time seeing the clover stand cut out on the box! My other Blythe box didn’t have one so I was excited to see one in person, I love the design!
There was so much plastic wrapped around the doll, clothing, and accessories. I know they want to preserve these dolls but it makes it tricky to get everything in the box out. I’ve watched so many Blythe unboxings and some videos make removing the doll and her stock so easy but it’s actually a lot more difficult than it seems! Kudos to all the people who I see on YouTube who manage to unbox the dolls and the outfit stock in the original packaging because I couldn’t! haha
Lavendula Babe had so much plastic wrapped around her body and her hair that I was afraid I was going to mess her hair in the process. Lavender’s hair wasn’t greasy or difficult to work with which I know is something that many people deal with so I’m lucky that my doll didn’t have unmanageable hair. So far I’ve only brushed her hair out with a comb which was enough to set her hair.
Details
Let’s talk about Lavender’s specs. This is my first time seeing the face type, RBL Evolution in the flesh. It’s really interesting. Her face details are a lot sharper like her lips and nose. Her skin tone is fair which is my first doll with a fair skin tone (my STA dolls had a normal skin tone color). Her bright purple hair is the highlight of Lavendula Babe and it’s so gorgeous! It didn’t require (at least my doll) a hair spa just a brushing.
The only special eye chip she had was front-facing pale blue eyes which look stunning on her! She also has a pink manicure which would make her my first doll with a manicure and I love this extra detail!
I wish they would’ve given her pierced ears. I’m kind of surprised they haven’t added pierced ears to all new Blythe releases at this point. They can give them a simple stud. I would love to see that. I know you can give Blythe dolls pierced ears by drilling a hole near the doll’s ears but I’m much too nervous to try that on my own since I’m still new to customizing Blythe dolls.
I wasn’t sure I was going to love the intense pink blush because I personally am not a fan of bold blush. However, I get why they added this blush to Lavendula Babe because the cold plays a huge role in Lavendula’s theme and when you’re outside in the cold for too long you get a rosy cheek look which is probably why they gave her this blush look.
My Lavendula Babe came with a dark grey dot on her back. As you can see in the unboxing, I had literally just taken off her plastic off her body when I found this speck on her back so it must have been produced that way. Thankfully, this is the only issue I found with my doll. You can contact Junie Moon if you have issues with your doll but I won’t be doing that because I don’t think this is a major issue worth returning her. Have any of you had any issues with your new dolls?
Stock Outfit
Lavendula’s stock outfit is so cute! She comes with a cream turtle neck, a chic light blue tweed top and bottom set, white fishnet tights, white knee-high boots, fluffy leg warmers, and a blue parka with a fur-trimmed hood. Everything is so cute and well-made! The parka is probably my favorite because of the hood, little zipper, and pockets!
I’ve seen many doll collectors online gift their new dolls a housewarming present. I found this so cute so I decided to do this too! I crochet Lavender a polar bear outfit using colors that match her original stock outfit. I’m obsessed with her outfit and love seeing her in it! I can’t wait to make more clothes for her in the future!
Did you order Lavendula Babe? Do you plan on getting her?
Did you notice that the Blythe doll in the Mooey&May logo was inspired by Lavendula Babe?
She's beautiful! Couldn't imagine a more perfect Blythe girlie for you, too!
